Choice and Destiny

life takes us down strange pathways,
through mazes of confusion and chaos,
and over hills of fear and doubt
past rivers of regret and denial
onto carousels of love and joy
but with every new experience,
one lesson remains:
we are bound by choice and destiny
to the often unpaved roads we travel
and who's to say the decision was ours
or the fate fully predetermined
we can only run as fast as our hearts will take us
and bandage the hurts when we can
for circumstances change with every passing second
and there is an end to every existence
