Sins

by Raine Wynd

in the silence of the night,
I close my eyes and remember
the way the sudden rain drenched us both
and made my T-shirt stick to my skin
in my ears I still can hear
the snickering sound of your amusement
when I tried to peel it off
without getting out of the rain first
and then your sharp breath
when I didn't stop at just the T-shirt
you called me sixteen kinds of tease
as I ran laughing into the house
but it was your name on my lips
when you finally caught me
and made me pay for my alleged sins

in the silence of the night,
I open my eyes and remember
the way you'd drown me in your love
until I couldn't breathe anything but
in my heart I still understand
the pulsating rhythm of your soul
from across a million miles of regret
and the bittersweet taste of your kiss
as it brushed across my mouth
I called you sixteen kinds of fool
as I ran screaming in the opposite direction
but it was my name on your lips
when you pulled me close
and made me pay for my acknowledged sins
